Pride of place this week must go to the under 21 hurlers who had a fantastic win last week against a much fancied Faythe Harriers team in the county semi final. This was a very young St. Martins team with only one member not underage again next year and seven of the starting fifteen were minors. The harriers got off to a great start and were leading by 8 points to 2 after about ten minutes. The mentors made a couple of positional switches and the lads really got into the game from there on going in at half time leading by 1.8 to 9 points.
They carried on in the same manner in the second half with every one of them playing brilliantly and ran out as worthy winners on a scoreline of 2.17 to 1.12.
They play Oulart this Thursday in Wexford Park at 7.30 in the county final and we would hope that there will be a huge turnout from the parish to support them.  Good luck to all.

Following the great U-21 hurling semi final success on Tuesday evening, we retuned to minor hurling on Thursday evening.
The game was played in very windy conditions against Glynn Barntown. Glynn Barntown made great progress in a wind assisted first half and ended the half on a 2-8 to 0-3 lead. The second half provided St Martin's with the advantage of the strong wind. However, despite several good scores, St. Martin's lost out on a 3-10 to 2-11 scoreline.
Our next game is minor football in Taghmon. The game is presently scheduled for Wednesday night - however, as our U-21 team will play a county final on Thursday evening, we hope to get a change in schedule. Please check club website for confirmation.

As you all  know a big push is now on to raise funds so that we can re surface the hurling wall.
The benefits of having a proper all weather surface will be huge to all age groups in particular the underage.
We are holding a Charity Cycle on 14th Sept starting in the pitch.  We have a 40k and a 120k route for adults and a 5k route for the children.  We will be giving the children sponsorship cards within the next week for completion and return. We would encourage all families to support this fundraiser as it will be YOUR children who will benefit from using the wall.
Keep and eye on the club website,Facebook page and twitter to keep up to date with all that is happening in the club.
