Big congratulations to the Wexford under 18 camogie team on capturing the Leinster title by beating Kilkenny 3-12 to 2-10 in Naas on Sunday. Our Club was very well represented on the team as it was captained by Muireann Byrne and we also had Chloe Fox, Amy Cardiff, Katie and Sarah O’Connor and Lauren Carty. Chloe was superb on the free-taking scoring 8 magnificent frees and a goal and Katie also contributed an all important goal bringing Wexford right back into a very keenly contested battle. This victory was earned by belief and never-say-die attitude and well done also to our own Deirdre Colfer, a selector on the team. A massive well done also to Aoife McAuliffe who was the sub goalie on the ladies’ football team who win the All Ireland junior title in Croke Park on Sunday.

Back at home, our intermediate team still awaits venue and time details for our semi-final next Saturday against Gorey. Our under 16 semi-final is will be on Saturday October 18th against Craanford.

Coiste na nÓg

The under 12 boy footballers made it 3 wins from 3 games on Sunday morning with a very impressive win over Shelmaliers in the last game of the group stage of the Sarsfields Tournament. Despite missing 6 A-team regulars the boys recovered from a very early 2 goal deficit to go on to dominate the scoring for the remainder of the game, and book their place in the final Blitz which will be held on Sunday week, October 12th. This will be the season finale for these boys so hopefully they can finish what has been a fantastic year in style. The under 10 boys season is almost over and they had a very enjoyable hurling blitz in Hollymount on Sunday. The under 6s also finished their season with a really enjoyable session in the Club on Sunday and really well done to all the coaches on preparing the 2028 county champions! Next Friday sees the medal presentation for our under 16 hurlers, at 7.30pm, in the Club and there will be a chance to look back at a video of their fantastic win in the county final against Shelmaliers.

Best of luck to the Rackard League teams this week with the boys A football team playing Adamstown at home at 3.45pm earlier today and then playing Glynn away at 2.15pm on Thursday.

Table Quiz

Tomorrow night, Wednesday October 1st, we will have a fun table quiz for kids and parents in the Centre. There will be questions for young and old, so each team will need at least one adult and we will have snacks, great craic, and fun between 7 – 9pm. Music and picture rounds, plus “Know your St. Martin’s” should all add up to a great night. The cost per table of 4 (or 5, if that’s your family) is €20 and we all proceeds will go towards the Strictly Club Dancing fundraising effort. If you’d like to book a table in advance, before the rush, just text Cian at 087.9020087. While all kids are welcome, we will be aiming the underage questions at the under 8 to under 12 age-brackets.

Other events

Tickets are going fast for our “Come dine with me” night on October 10th so please call Maire O’Connor on 086-6235064 to get yours. We will also be holding a Halloween disco and a movie night during mid-term for our teenagers and the kiddies will also have a Halloween party/disco.  More details on these events to follow later.

Adult men

Our senior men will play Castletown in the county football quarter final after losing a tight final group game to St. Anne’s on Friday night. Given that we were missing Daithi Waters and Mark Maloney through injury and finished the game with 13 men we didn’t do too badly to lose by a single point so we look forward with hope to defending our title against another “maroon” team.

Juvenile Handball training will commence on Thursday 9th October, 6pm to 7pm for Primary School Students and 7pm to 8pm for Secondary School Students.  New Members Welcome.
