Football update

The senior footballers played a 1-9 to 0-12 draw with Shelmaliers in round 3 of the ACFL on Saturday and next up for them is the first round of the championship against Gusserane on the weekend of 10-12 April. Our minor footballers meanwhile had an excellent win at home to Shelmaliers on Sunday morning.

Best wishes to Brian Berney from our senior team who will be out for quite a while with a cruciate injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Camogie

Our camogie intermediates lost to Duffry Rovers on Sunday morning and, on the same day, 3 of our girls were on the county under 16 team that lost to Dublin but well done in any event to Mary Barrett, Alannah Davis and Lettie Whelan. The minors will be playing against Moyeady this evening at 6.30pm and both intermediate and senior teams will be playing over the Easter Bank holiday weekend with details still to be confirmed.

Ladies’ football

Our under 12 girls’ footballers got their season underway in Hollymount on Sunday morning. In very blustery conditions the girls played very well and earned themselves an excellent 7-5 to 2-0 win over Shelmaliers. Their next game is at home to Crossabeg on Thursday 9th April and our adult ladies second round of football league action will be at home on Good Friday versus St. James at 7pm. The under 14s will have a busy day on Easter Monday as they will take part in the Wexford Féile with time and venue to be confirmed.

Coiste na nÓg

The under 8 boys reached the finals of the Bannow/Ballymitty tournament playing two great games against Our Lady's Island and Kilmore and they’re already looking forward to returning next year. The under 12 boys meanwhile are gearing up for the visit by the hurlers of Ballygunner on Friday at 6.15pm – all the boys are asked to be at the pitches by 5.45pm. We wish Joe Mernagh a speedy recovery from the broken fingers he suffered during the week; he will be a big loss for the game against Ballygunner and all his team-mates wish him a quick recovery.

Tennis

Tennis camp for kids runs from April 7th to 9th with the under 12 – 14 age group in the 2 – 3.30pmtimeslot. Younger kids, from under 8 – 10 will be coached from 3.30pm – 4.30pm and the fee is only €5 for non-members.

Easter Coffee Morning

Finally, the annual Easter coffee morning and cake sale will take place after Mass in Piercestown and we look forward to seeing a big crowd there as usual.

Club Lotto

Finally, the Lotto numbers drawn on Sunday March 29th were 8, 15, 22 and 25 and we had no winner. The grand jackpot of €15,000 remains to be won so anyone wishing to join the Club Lotto, a key income source for the club, need only contact any member of the Committee.
